It'S All Broken: The Imperative for Innovation in Nursing

Foundation: Johnson Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Bonnie Klipper, a nurse futurist and a pioneer in virtual nursing, believes the future of nursing will be one where nurses are augmented by technology, not replaced.

That's why she's founded Innovation Advantage, a company that combines technology with nursing to create what she calls "a tech-augmented healthcare environment necessitating a paradigm shift in academic circles to better prepare nurses for a tech-augmented healthcare environment."

Klipper, who is also the first VP of innovation at the American Nurses Association and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow, says traditional structures of nursing are unsustainable, necessitating innovation to navigate through the cycle of disruption.

"The future of nursing, as envisioned by Dr. Dr. Klipper, is one where nurses are augmented by technology, not replaced," she says in a podcast.

"The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technologies will redefine the roles within nursingAcademia's role in the transformation: The need for a paradigm shift in academic circles to better prepare nurses for a tech-augmented healthcare environment necessitating the need for a paradigm shift in academic circles to better prepare nurses for a tech-augmented nursing environment."
